RKI is proud to offer the smallest and lightest 4-gas monitor with an MSHA rating, the GX-2009 MSHA. Weighing only 4.6 ounces, it fits in the palm of your hand. MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) certification allows this version of the GX-2009 to be used in underground mines, tunnels and excavations under MSHA jurisdiction.

What is the difference between an MSHA GX-2009 and a standard GX-2009?

There are a few differences between the MSHA and non–MSHA version of the GX-2009. Below is a list of those differences:

  • Different instrument programming. MSHA version instruments display the combustible channel as CH4 % volume versus % LEL. Also the fresh air function is located in the calibration menu section of the instrument.
  • The MSHA version uses a different combustible sensor (part # NC-6264B).
  • The MSHA version has the appropriate MSHA certification labels.
