August 11 RKI Pricing: FAQ's
17th Jul 2025
Why is RKI adjusting its prices?
The U.S. government has formally notified the Japanese government that it will raise the current 10% tariff to 25%, effective August 1, 2025. In response, RKI is taking proactive steps to manage the impact of this change while remaining competitive.
What changes are being made to pricing?
To simplify administrative workload, we are discontinuing the 5% surcharge and incorporating that adjustment directly into the product pricing. As a result, most products will see a general 5% price increase.
Why is the 5% surcharge being removed instead of maintained?
Removing the surcharge simplifies our pricing structure and improves transparency. By folding it into base pricing, we reduce confusion and streamline the ordering process.
Will any products have a higher increase than 5%?
Some fixed system products, especially those sourced from external suppliers, may see a higher adjustment due to cost factors beyond our control.
When does the new pricing take effect?
The updated pricing will go into effect on August 11, 2025
Why wasn't the updated price list included in the last announcement?
Given the U.S. government's recent decision to raise tariffs on goods imported from Japan - from 10% to 25% effective August 1, 2025, we are carefully reviewing our pricing to ensure it accurately reflects the full impact of these changes. This includes not only adjusting for the new tariff but also restructuring our pricing by eliminating the separate 5% surcharge and incorporating that into the base price of most products.
Finalizing these updates requires coordination across product categories, including items affected by external supplier costs. To ensure clarity and accuracy, we held off on sharing the price list in the initial announcement.
